Small Group Activities: Time__20 minutes____
Description of activity 1:
PART ONE: Monitored by____MCT______

The aim of this activity is to create a desert seen using the desert-dome outline  and to identify (desert, camel and palm) from some presented pictures.

The teacher will model the activity by colouring the printed camel, put some glue on the domes and with the teacher’s assistance put some sand on the top.

After that the children will be able to place the camel by gluing it, then to draw a tree or palm depending on their artistic senses.

Also, the children will be able to complete the seen by drawing a sun and colouring the sky.

Finally, the teacher may ask children to write their names on the back of their work if they can (and she will dote their names if they can’t).

Some guided question my occure during this activity such as:

-What colour is the camel?
-Where dose the camel lives?
-What fruit comes from palm tree? (A picture may be exposed as a clue).

General Comments: (including:  documented evidence of learning; comments from MST, MCT and/or TA as appropriate)

This lesson was already presented on the previous day. However, most of the children my forgot some vocabularies such as (camel and desert). The two new elements of this lesson are the word (palm as in palm tree) and the song “Alice the Camel”.

Recommendations / future personal targets / areas of focus for next week

It is recommended to model the activity for the children step by step in order to avoid any mistakes in the final product. Because the children may understand the second language difficultly and because it may take them longer time to complete that task. Occasionally, some Arabic may be used during all phases of the lesson.
