Activity1 (count little flag picks/ numbers 1-7):
 
-Cork board.
 
-laminated U.A.E flags on tooth picks.
 
-laminated numbers (1-7) inside a box.
Activity 2 - A (Numeracy Area- Count and write the digit):
 
-pencils (For the high group).
 
-Boards of flag images and question boxes.
 
-Laminated numbers (For lower or average groups).
 
 
 
Activity 2 – B (Numeracy Area – Puzzle match the digit to the pictures):
 
-Puzzle pieces of numbers and manipulative pictures (1-10).
 
 
Activity 4 (Free choices + free flow play):
 
-Compute games.
 
-Flag colouring. (Art corner)
 
-Tracing numbers.(Writing corner)
 
-Reading stories (Reading corner).

Description of whole group activity: (Counting and representing from 1 to 9)
 
1-The teacher will introduce a slid show that clarifies many connections verbally, symbolically, and physically. Children will be able to articulate numbers and represent them by using their fingers. The way that they will represent numbers indicates their understanding.
 
2-The teacher will present a local story to match both the outcome and the theme. Children will be assessed by questioning and therefore, they will be able to represent their numerical knowledge verbally.
 
3- The teacher will distribute children in their groups to do the activities or to choose between the free choice activities.

Description of activity1 (focus group):

Students will:
-Choose a number from the box (without looking at a specific number).
 
-Tell the teacher and other children in the group the number’s name (say what number it is).
 
-Represent the number by inserting little flags in the Cork Board she or he has.
 
-Count the flags to emphasise the chosen digit.

-Count the flags images on each line.
 
-Say how many flags images are there in the line.
 
-Write or stick the number that identifies the flags.
 
-Read the number after writing or sticking it.

Students will:
-Be able to match the puzzle pieces together by corresponding each digit with the picture that identifies it. (e.g. # 1 with one apple,  # 2 with two birds, …etc.).

Students will:
Have a free choice to go to any corner and do any activity that interests them.
 
1-Computer corner:
- To use computer games which are differentiated to their abilities (low & mid groups will count 1-7 ducks game, High group will count down balloons game).
 
2-Art corner:
-To colour flags and the numbers that represent each flag.
 
3-Writing corner:
-To trace – write digits from 1-9.
 
4-Reading corner:
-To choose books about numeracy and trying reading, or browsing them .

Description of closing activity: Time: ____10 minutes____
Monitored by:  MCT  - Dr. Hunt
The teacher will review the numbers from 1 to 9 with the students by showing them the slide show of (numbers and fingers). Also, children will be able to represent the numbers by their fine motor skills using their fingers and write the numbers on the white board.
  The teacher then will introduce the "10 little numbers" song and sing it with children.
