​Lesson Three - Role play a story

Activity 1:
Mask making out of paper plates.
 
·         Paper plates.
·         Glue
·         Pencils
·         Popsicles
·         Colouring pens.
 Flash cards of fruits that the caterpillar ate.
·          
 
Supporting activity 1 (WHOLE):
 
- Smart board.
 
-A video on the story “The very Hungry Caterpillar”. .
 
Supporting activity 2 (2nd WHOLE):
 
Role playing the story “The very Hungry Caterpillar”. .

-Greet the children- reinforce classroom rules (good sitting , look at the teacher,…).
 
-Review the week’s outcomes.
 
-Display the  e-book of  “The very Hungry Caterpillar”.
 
-Get children to participate in recalling and retelling some events of the story as this is the ‘book of the week’..

Description of activity 1:
PART ONE: Monitored by____MCT______
 
The aim of this activity is to make masks or props to role play the story of the week “The very Hungry Caterpillar”.  Children can also draw some events of the story in their free flow play time. In this activity the teacher provide paper plate witch are hollow in the middle in order to help children make masks.
 
 
-Children will look and listen to the teacher as she explains the activity and reinforces the story.
 
-Each child chooses a flash card of the fruit that the caterpillar ate.
 
-Children have to glue the cards they chose in the paper plate.
 
-Children will role play the story using the paper plate they did.
 
 
Description of closing activity:

-The teacher asks the children about some events of the story.
 
-Children role play the story “The very Hungry Caterpillar”.
